Mount Apoi Geopark Visitor Center
Let's learn about the formation of Mt. Apoi, which was formed with the Hidaka Mountains, and the topography, geology, and history of Samani!
Mt. Apoi Geopark was recognized as a “Japan Geopark” in 2008 and became a member of the UNESCO World Geopark in 2015. Here, visitors can learn about the history, culture, and industry of the town of Samani as well as its precious geology and landforms. Starting with a bird's-eye view of the Geopark at the entrance, there is a topographical model, the “Earth Science Zone” where visitors can learn about the formation of Mount Apoi, and the “Nature, History, and Industry Zone” where nature and people's lives are introduced.
