Kunimare Sake Brewery

Japan’s Northernmost Sake Brewery

Kunimare Sake Brewery is the northernmost sake brewery in Mashike Town along the Sea of Japan that has been making sake since its founding in 1882 (Meiji 15). From the stone warehouse to the old sake bottles and labels, you can feel the history of the brewery on a tour. Kunimare's signature brand is a refreshingly dry sake. The underground water from Mt. Shokanbetsu, which has a low hardness even among soft waters, gives the sake a soft taste. You can sample up to three local and brewery-exclusive brands for free, and you can also get limited quantities of local and new sake, which is a unique pleasure of a sake brewery.
