Abashiri Phlox Park

A heavenly flower garden where 150,000 red, white, and purple phlox bloom in full glory

A garden park where 150,000 phlox bloom wildly across a vast hilly area of about 10 hectares (equivalent to two Tokyo Domes). This park was developed over approximately eight years by local volunteers. Blooming begins in late July, with the best viewing period from mid-August to early September. The mosaic patterns of red, pink, white, and purple created by the phlox beautifully color the short summer of eastern Hokkaido. Additionally, within the park, there are observation points where you can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Abashiri and the plains towards Memanbetsu, allowing you to enjoy both the flowers and the scenery.
