Sun Pillar Park
Explore the Beautiful
Hokkaido Sunpillar Park is one of the Regional Parks under the Hokkaido Regional Green Space Plan. Under the theme of “Creating a Northern Hometown,” the park space is rich in nature, with forests, water, grasslands, and flower gardens. The park has three areas and 11 zones, each with its own characteristics. The Sun Pillar Exchange Center in the center of the park offers free indoor and outdoor playground equipment from spring through fall, and in winter it becomes a curling rink (for a fee). Outside, seasonal flowers bloom, and the sunflower field in summer was used as a filming location for the movie “Hoshi Mamoru Inu” (The Dog Who Protects the Stars). Nayoro Kenko no Mori Park, Nayoro Municipal Observatory “Kitasubaru”, and the Forest Vacation Village auto campsite are also located in the area, making the whole area a comprehensive experience tourism facility.
