Basha Bar (Horse-drawn carriage BAR)
Experience Tokachi's horse culture through the view from the "Horse-drawn carriage BAR"
Farming horses, which shared the hardships of Hokkaido's pioneering period with people, were indispensable to the development of Tokachi, pulling stumps, plowing fields, transporting huge trees from the mountains, and digging coal out of the ground.
The horse culture of Hokkaido has been selected as a Hokkaido Heritage site. Although they share the same horse culture, Tokachi's heavy stallions are powerful, while Hidaka, a production center for light stallions that pursue speed, has a completely different horse culture.
The "festival banba" was held in various regions to compete the abilities of horses, which were the mainstay of agriculture and forestry, and eventually developed into the "Banei horse race," in which heavy stallions pulled sleds to compete for horsepower. The "Basha Bar" is a horse-drawn carriage tour pulled by the Banei horses that played an active role in "Banei Tokachi".
The horse-drawn carriage tour is an exceptional experience that can only be had here while enjoying local craft beer and other alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and Tokachi snacks. (Advance reservations required).
The tour usually operates from early April to late November.
