Tenjinyama Park - Tenjin Wisteria
Enjoy the oldest wisteria trellis in Hokkaido.
Located on the 85-meter-high Tenjinyama, this park is a popular spot for hanami (flower viewing) in spring, with plum and double cherry blossoms in full bloom.
From late May to early June, you can admire the "Tenjin Wisteria," which is over 200 years old and the oldest in Hokkaido. It is said that pioneers who settled during the Meiji era brought this wisteria as a bonsai and replanted it here. The light purple flowers emit a splendid fragrance, offering a feast for both the eyes and the nose. The "Tenjin Wisteria" is notable for its large and impressive size, with branches and leaves extending about 25 meters from a trunk that appears to be nearly 2 meters thick. The view from the Japanese garden within the park is picturesque and a popular vantage point.
Additionally, from the observation terrace near the summit, you can enjoy views of Mount Moiwa and Sapporo city. Be sure to take in the sights!
