Shirotai Ranch Observation Deck
Relaxing Cows and Beautiful Night Views Heal You
At Shirotai Pasture, located at an elevation of 550 meters above sea level, grazing cattle graze peacefully. The ranch has an observatory where visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of Komagatake, Mount Hakodate, and the Ono Plain. At night, the view changes to a jewel-like nightscape of Hakodate's backside. This beautiful scene, which has been awarded the title of “Seven Star Nightscape,” is a well-known nightscape spot for those in the know.
The “Jotai Skyline,” which runs through the ranch, is a winding road that connects the center of Nanae Town with the Onuma district, a tourist destination. It is also popular as a driving course where visitors can enjoy the abundant nature, such as the fresh greenery in early summer and the autumn leaves in fall. After passing through the foot of Mt. Nanae, there is a free parking lot near the top of the skyline, and the view from here is also exceptional.
