Todowara
Todowara and Narawara are trees withered by seawater and wind. Todowara are dead trees of a conifer called Todomatsu (Abies sachalinensis), characterized by their white, slender appearance. Narawara is a dead broadleaf tree called mizunara (Quercus mongolica var. mongolica), which is characterized by its brown and thick appearance. These dead trees are spread along the coastline of Notsuke Peninsula and can be seen when walking along the wooden path. The landscape of dead trees represents the harsh natural environment, but it is also beautiful. Guided tours and tractor-bus tours are available at the Nature Center, but please check in advance as they change with the seasons.
