Kottaro Marsh Observatory
The Kottaro Marsh Observatory offers a panoramic view of the ancient nature preserved in the Kottaro Marsh.
This area, known as the "sample of Kushiro Marsh," features primitive rivers, ponds, and low-lying Marshs. It is designated as a special protection area within the national park for maintaining its most pristine state. From the observatory, you can see the meandering Kottaro River and numerous scattered ponds, showcasing a primitive landscape. Additionally, you can observe wild birds such as the Red-crowned crane and heron, as well as rare dragonflies considered relics of the glacial period.
