Shiretoko Pass
A mountain pass where you can enjoy a great panoramic view
The Shiretoko Odan Road crosses between east and west of Shiretoko Peninsula, which is is located in eastern Hokkaido and juts out into the Sea of Okhotsk. Shiretoko Pass is located right at the midpoint of this highway, and is renowned for its breathtaking views. Once you traverse the winding pass extending for 27 km, you will be rewarded with views from an altitude of 738 m. The peaks of Mt. Rausu and a sea of trees stretch out before you. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of the Nemuro Strait and Kunashiri Island.
