Tomuraushi Hot Spring
A hidden hot spring at the trailhead of Mt. Tomuraushi surrounded by nature
Tomuraushi Onsen is located in Todaisetsu, which is said to be the last unexplored region in Japan and where much untouched wilderness remains. It is a secluded, one-house inn located at the trailhead of Mount Tomraushi, one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains. It boasts a spacious large bath with a ceiling height of 8 meters and an open-air bath overlooking the Yutomuraushi River. Day-trip bathing is also available. The hot water contains high levels of metasilicic acid, which is said to be an effective ingredient for moisturizing the skin. It takes one hour by car from downtown Shintoku, and although there is an unpaved mountain road to the inn, the road surface is always well maintained and safe. When it snows, snow is removed and the road is passable by car even in winter. Free shuttle service from Obihiro and Shintoku is available for guests.
