Ueno Farm (Hokkaido Garden Path)
"Hokkaido Garden” based on an English-style garden and taking advantage of the climate
Ueno Farm is an original “Hokkaido garden” based on an English-style garden that takes advantage of Hokkaido's climate. The family of Ms. Sayuki Ueno, who designed the garden that appeared in the TV drama “The Wind Garden” set in Furano, created this garden at the foot of a hill, emphasizing its natural atmosphere. In the garden, flowers and grasses change with the seasons, and ducks and chickens can be seen walking around. The shooting mountain behind the garden is a “sacred place for lovers” that is believed to bring happiness to couples. Why not extend your walk to the mountain's symbolic tree, the large Unryu willow?

The garden is split into different sub-gardens, each that presents something different to visitors. The Mori-no Hanazono garden offers a pleasant stroll among the blossoms while the Mori-no Geihinkan mimics a living space with a natural aesthetic. Former JNR Shihoro Line Concrete Arch Bridges (Taushubetsu River Bridge)
A Concrete Arch Bridge That Stands the Test of Time
Constructed in 1937, Taushubetsu River Bridge is a reminder of the days when trains ran across concrete bridges to transport wood used in construction for the war effort. The decommissioned bridge is located amidst breathtaking scenery, making it a must-visit spot for photographers, especially in the Fall when the bridge is reflected beautifully in the lake surrounding it. However, the harsh Hokkaido climate takes a constant toll and it is not clear how much longer it will survive. Visit soon before this unique sight is lost forever to the ravages of nature.
