Farm Tomita is famous for its beautiful lavenders, which were first cultivated in 1897 and first attracted attention in 1976 when they were used in the calendar of the Japan National Railways at that time. The vast site is filled with lavender, poppies, marigolds, and other flowers from spring through fall, and on a clear day, you can even see the Tokachi Mountain Range in the distance. During the lavender season in summer, crowds of people arrive from around 10:00 a.m., so if you want to enjoy the flowers in peace and quiet, we recommend that you get up early. Combine the lavender soft-serve ice cream with the vivid colors of the flowers in the background for the perfect shot.

Shirogane Blue Pond was created during construction to prevent volcanic mudflows from Mount Tokachi. The pond, which has a mysteriously beautiful blue color, became a world-famous tourist spot when it was used as wallpaper for Apple Inc. Not only the unique blue color, but also the dead larch trees submerged in some parts of the water create a more mysterious atmosphere. It is said that when sunlight hits the small particles dispersed in the water, the reflected light scatters and makes the water appear blue. Therefore, the blue color changes depending on the season and time of day. It can look bright or calm, and you can enjoy a new view every time you take a picture.

Located at an altitude of approximately 1,088 meters above sea level, “Sea of Clouds Terrace” is a place where you can literally enjoy the mystical world of the sea of clouds. It is accessible by gondola from the Hoshino Resort Tomamu in about 13 minutes one way. The chances of seeing the sea of clouds, said to be one of the most memorable (and photogenic) natural phenomena in the world, vary depending on the weather and season, but from spring to autumn there is a 40% chance. However, since the phenomenon can only be seen early in the morning, getting up early is a must. Even on days when a sea of clouds cannot be seen, there are decks and walkways on the grounds where visitors can enjoy a walk while breathing in the fresh mountain air.

Located at the southern end of Asahikawa Station, the Asahikawa Kitasaito Garden is a 12-hectare garden with more than 300 species of plants. The combination of the Chubetsu River across the garden and the mountains in the distance creates a beautiful landscape. The garden is designed in the image of Asahikawa's “Yukara-Ori” textile, with an awareness of the colors of Hokkaido. It is a place for citizens to relax and enjoy nature on their way to work or school, a kind of hideaway, but of course, visitors for sightseeing are also welcome. It is a place worth visiting, even in between waiting for the next train.

Ueno Farm was dynamically created by designer Yuki Ueno Suna, based on an English-style garden but adapted to Hokkaido's climate. The design is constantly evolving and currently features a variety of styles in 10 areas, but they all have one thing in common: they are all gardens created around plants that grow in Hokkaido's climate and native grasses that bloom from season to season. Enjoy the scenery of the season and try to get the best shot. Taking a break at the Naya Cafe in the park and checking your photos is also a fun time.
