Located in Haboro-cho overlooking Amauri Island, this is the only facility in Japan specializing in seabirds. It conducts surveys of seabirds around Amauri Island, protects and breeds sea crows (Oororon), and promotes the protection of the marine environment. Amauri Island is known worldwide as an island where people and seabirds coexist in harmony, and it is also the world's largest breeding ground for the sea cormorant, with a population of approximately 300,000. The museum has a diorama that realistically reproduces the cliff face of the seabird breeding grounds on the west coast of Amauri Island, and uses lighting and sound effects to show how seabirds raise their chicks.

The sea is calm and seabirds are chirping. ...... When the weather is nice in the summer, Tenuri Island is in perfect condition for sea kayaking. There is a casual experience course and a full 180-minute course. Of course, in addition to sea kayaking, there are many other activities that can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons on nature-rich Amauri Island. We recommend walking around the island with a guide or taking a cruise on a fishing boat led by a local fisherman.

Visitors can try their hand at pottery making under the guidance of a professional at the “Ceramic Studio Obira” in Kodaira Town. The pottery workshop is equipped with an electric potter's wheel and an electric kiln, making it easy for anyone from children to the elderly to try their hand at pottery making. The pottery studio is also equipped with a brick kiln capable of firing several thousand pieces of pottery at once. It is a full-scale continuous kiln with five rooms connected by a flue that climb up the slope side by side. After your pottery-making experience, stop by Yasuyokan, an accommodation facility with a restaurant, or Moyodai Campsite, which is surrounded by nature. At the nearby “B&G Ocean Center,” visitors can enjoy marine activities such as canoeing and yachting. Kodaira Town also offers many fun activities, such as the Kodaira International Park Golf Course, a course certified by the International Park Golf Association.

Located in the town of Zuge, at 43 degrees north latitude, this is the northernmost orchard in Japan. It grows apples, cherries, blueberries, grapes, pears, and prunes. The founder planted apple seedlings in 1919, and the land is ideal for growing fruit, with good drainage due to the fan-shaped topography, abundant water from the mountains, and a climate with large temperature differences. After enjoying fruit picking in the garden, it is recommended to enjoy a crispy apple pie made from apples grown with reduced agricultural chemicals at FruitLabo, an apple pie specialty store directly operated by the orchard.

Kunimei Sake Brewery is known as the northernmost sake brewery in Japan. The founder, Mr. Taizo Honma, started brewing his own sake in Masuge in the early Meiji period and was impressed by the character of General Nogi Namesuke, a former army general who commissioned the writing of the cenotaph for the war dead of the Russo-Japanese War. Based on the philosophy of “making sake that is enjoyed every day delicious,” the company sells a higher percentage of sake for daily use than junmai or ginjo sake. Tours of the sake brewery with its old-fashioned atmosphere are available, making it a must-visit spot for sake lovers.
