Cape Notoro
Jutting out into the Sea of Okhotsk, Cape Notoro offers spectacular views of Lake Notoro and the coastline of the Tokoro area of Kitami City to the west and the Shiretoko mountains in the distance to the east. Winter brings particularly stunning views as drift ice fills the sea. The name comes from "not-or", which means "place with the cape" in the indigenous Ainu language. The panda-colored lighthouse at the tip of the cape is a particularly iconic sight. Cape Notoro is where Taichi first meets Helen the fox cub. Take in the amazing Hokkaido scenery that provided the backdrop to this film.
