This morning TV series aired in early 2019. The heroine, Natsu Okuhara (Suzu Hirose), is a nine-year-old girl who loses both her parents in World War II. The adults in her community, who live like pioneers amid the abundant nature of Hokkaido's Tokachi region, step in to raise her and she grows into a spirited young woman. Natsu decides that the best place for her boundless imagination is the world of animation. The story of a young girl thriving in spite of adversity in postwar Hokkaido and setting her sights on Japan's fledgling animation industry inspires courage and hope.

Michinoeki Roadside Rest Area Otofuke Natsuzora no Furusato
Renovated in 2022, Otofuke Town's roadside rest area is a bustling hub for tourist information and local specialties of the Tokachi area. From a farmer's market to restaurants serving pork domburi and curry, you've got all of Tokachi's best foods in one spot. Enjoy a great meal and pick up some souvenirs to take home. An area of the roadside rest area has been dedicated to Natsuzora, with recreations of the buildings in the series capturing the vibrant world of Natsu and her community.
