Restaurant from the Sky (Sora no Resutoran)

Set in Setana Town in Hokkaido, this film follows protagonist Wataru Shitara (Yo Oizumi), his wife Kotoe (Manami Honjo), and his daughter Shiori (Rin Shono) as they run a cattle ranch with a view of the sea. Accompanied by many friends who have come to enjoy food that is "in touch with nature", the family enjoy each day on their challenging but beautiful land. The film was based on a real collective of farmers in Setana Town, Yamanokai, who use natural farming methods to achieve circular agriculture. Central to the film is cheese, which ties a dish together and has a richness to it, symbolizing the bonds between the characters.

Murakami Ranch Reprera
This ranch is located on a hilltop in Setana Town with a view of the sea. The chief farmer, Mr. Murakami, is a member of Yamanokai, the collective the film was based on, and really did dedicate himself to passionate efforts at cheesemaking, just like the characters in the film. Around 60 heads of Holstein, Jersey, and Brown Swiss cows are raised at Murakami Ranch. The farm's cheese factory turns fresh milk from those cows into delicious ice cream too (the farmers have chosen to suspend production of the natural cheese.)
