A Drop of the Grapevine (Budo no Namida)
Central Hokkaido area
Set in the Sorachi area of Hokkaido, this drama follows brothers Ao (Yo Oizumi) and Roku (Shota Sometani), who take over the family vineyard after the death of their father. Ao, the older of the two, makes the wine while Roku grows wheat on the farm. One day, they meet a woman called Erika (Yuko Ando) and her quirky charm wins them over. The film takes an empathethic look at each character's conflicts and their worries about the direction their life should take. The cinematography is also stunning, with sweeping views of the greenery of the vineyard and the golden wheat on the farm.

Housui Winery
You can't miss the charming red roof of this winery on a hilltop in the Sorachi area. Chardonnay and Kerner grapes grow in the vast vineyard outside, creating the iconic landscape that made A Drop of the Grapevine so memorable...and now you can see it in person! On the second floor you'll find the room that was used as Ao's room. It's now used for an exhibition of props from the film, including the swing Roku sat on. Don't leave without picking something from the range of wines and other souvenirs in the winery's store.
