Esashi Town is located on the Sea of Japan side of southern Hokkaido and is said to be the birthplace of Hokkaido culture. It is a small fishing town where culture and traditions such as "Esashi Ubagami Daijingu Togyo Festival", which is said to be the oldest festival in Hokkaido, and "Esashi Oiwake", which is said to be the king of folk songs, are still alive. The townscape that prospered with herring fishing in the Edo period still remains today. , and has been sung all over the world. In addition, the spectacular sunset over the Sea of Japan is deeply rooted in the image of the townspeople. It is located about 90 minutes by car from Hakodate, the gateway to Southern Hokkaido.
