LOCATION

Muroran

OVERVIEW

Muroran is called the “Iron City” because of the abundance of coal and iron sand that can be found around Funka Bay. In the late 19th century, it flourished as a natural port and a port for shipping coal from the Sorachi region. Get closer to its history and enjoy the night view created by the industrial area on a cruise. Muroran also has two fishing grounds, the Pacific Ocean and Funka Bay, and is Hokkaido’s largest rock fishing destination. Why not go fishing empty-handed and experience Muroran in its entirety?

12:45 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Lunch at Muroran Prince Hotel
・Lunch will be served with Muroran Yakitori, a specialty of Muroran and a much-loved gourmet dish for workers at the steel mills. Despite the name “yakitori,” the meat is pork, and onions are used instead of leeks. The workers, who used a lot of physical strength, liked the strong, sweet and spicy sauce.

・Get on board from the pier and go directly under Shiratori Bridge. Take the elevator to the top of the 140m tall main tower and enjoy the combination of nature and the industrial landscape. This is the only tour in Japan where you can go under the bridge by boat.
